-Serve as the primary implementor for the development of bioinformatic
capacity at NAMRU-6, including data management, sequence QC, alignment, coverage analysis, and variant identification.
-Develop tools and operate software pipelines to manage sequencing analysis tasks and deliverables.
-Serve as the primary interface and point-of-contact for bio informatics issues.
-Play a supporting role in the generation of scientific protocols.
-Play a supporting role in the production of scientific manuscripts.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
-Bachelor's degree in biomedical science/bioinformatics/math/computer science or related field or four (4) years related experience in lieu of degree.
-Additionally, minimum of two (2) years of data analysis or research in a related field.
-Proficiency in Unix (Linux), scripting and bioinformatics tools and databases.
-Programming proficiency in at least one of C, R, Python, or PERL.
-Experience with various bioinformatics analysis tools, including Bowtie, TopHat, Mothur, QIIME, MetaPhlAN, HUMAnN, LEfSe, UPARSE.
-Must be able to perform analysis of raw next generation sequencing data relevant to large-scale sequencing studies.
-Basic skills (reading, writing, speaking) in English |
